user guide to meeting people safely
a guide to dating security
Leaving your messages
- You want to give enough information to make sure the person who you want to get in touch with recognises you. But don't give out personal details, such as your telephone number or home address, until you have established you've got the right one.
- Be honest in your messages, ie don't make up stuff because what's the point?
- If you suspect someone is giving out false information or you think someone is lying to you, stop contacting them. If you feel someone is abusing the service, inform us.
- It may sound obvious, but use your common sense.
Arranging to meet someone
- Don't arrange to be picked up from you home address, and don't accept a lift back afterwards unless you are completely comfortable about it.
- Always meet in a public place that is familiar to you.
- Tell someone where you are going and what time you are expected back.
- When you are meeting someone for the first time, remember you don't really know them that well.
- Again, always use your common sense and make sure you're not forced into doing something you don't want to do.
Finally
Remember, you're on the level but others may not be. Follow our tips and you could be well on the way to meeting that person who you had your eye on. Good luck!
